The top downloads of 2016 from practicepro.ca
At the end of each year we at practicePRO take a look at what articles, checklists, tips, and other resources had the most downloads. As always, the list contains many resources that remain popular year after year (e.g. our retainer precedents, ILA checklist and Fraud Fact Sheet.
There were also 7 new additions to the top 40 downloads, which in many cases reflect the efforts LAWPRO made in 2016 to make Ontario lawyers aware of the dangers of administrative dismissals under the new Rule 48.14.
Here are some that stand out:
- Our Rule 48 Transition Toolkit was downloaded over 2,000 times (nearly as many times as the previous year), and lawyers also frequently referred to articles such as “Plaintiff counsel beware – it’s now easier to dismiss an action for delay’ and “There’s a right way and wrong way to stop the litigation clock.”
- Our Limited Scope Retainer Precedent for family law was downloaded over 2,000 times, a reflection of the growing number of clients are seeking limited service from lawyers in this area.
- Evidently many lawyers want to make sure that the services they offer are onside with LAWPRO, given that 1,300 downloaded Four things that can lead to denial of coverage under your LAWPRO policy.
- Cybercrime continues to be a major concern to law firms, as evidenced in the continuing popularity of the December 2013 article Protecting yourself from cybercrime dangers: The steps you need to take.
