Today the Superior Court of Justice amended its Consolidated Notice to the Profession and Public Regarding the Small Claims Court to:

  • Provide for scheduling terms of payment hearings and new trials.
  • Add a reminder to file all documents that a claim is based on.
  • Explain that the Court is not dismissing actions for delay until further notice.
  • Clarify and shorten various sections.

In addition, the Superior Court of Justice’s Small Claims Court Resources page has been updated to include a recording of the Small Claims Court Working Group June 23, 2021 webinar and presentation slides. These resources provide a helpful summary of Small Claims Court Rule changes that modernize processes by, for example, replacing fax with email, authorizing the electronic signing of documents and permitting service of originating processes by email on certain government entities.
