cybersecurity basics

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has just released cybersecurity resources for small business. They were developed after the FTC hosted roundtables to ask business owners what they needed to deal with the threat of cybercrime. While not specifically aimed at law firms, the cyber issues and dangers they face are often the same as any other business.

The centerpiece of each topic is a fact sheet that addresses the issue, resources to help educate your staff and videos and quizzes you can use in in-house training.

The topics covered are:

  • Cybersecurity Basics
  • Understanding the NIST Cybersecurity Framework
  • Physical Security
  • Ransomware
  • Phishing
  • Business Email Imposters
  • Tech Support Scams
  • Vendor Security
  • Cyber Insurance
  • Email Authentication
  • Hiring a Web Host
  • Secure Remote Access

The resource page is clean and simple to navigate with much of the same message you will find in the practicePRO Cyber Dangers page.
