Ontario’s Family Law Limited Scope Services Project launched in the fall of 2018. Its mandate is to improve access to family justice by establishing an online, province-wide directory of trained lawyers willing to provide unbundled legal services (with limited scope services).

One of the limited scope services most often requested is legal advice and/or drafting documents to formalize proposed settlements negotiated by individuals with little or no involvement by the lawyer (often using mediation for dispute resolution).

This program is a collaboration between the Ontario Association of Family Mediators and Ontario’s Family Law Limited Scope Services Project and is intended to outline suggested practices for both mediators and lawyers to help them understand each others the roles and challenges.

LAWPRO’s Yvonne Bernstein is one of the presenters at this program.
